Engagement sessions do not have to be the standard posed portrait of a couple - they can be fun, passionate, romantic or sentimental. Ultimately, engagement sessions should be an expression of the couples' personalities. Stylizing an engagement session is not only a lot of fun but can give you the chance to explore a variety of concepts, themes and styles. This is a special photo opportunity to capture the couple in the stress-free environment of their choice without the time constraints and pressure of the wedding day.

For a stylized engagement session, planning and collaboration are critical. This allows for some structure for the shoot - obviously you can get some spontaneous images but you are also prepared. I draw inspiration from the couple - what they like to do together, how he proposed, their personal style, as well as various wedding and photography blogs. If the couple has suggestions - I will make a note of all their ideas and try to piece them into the theme we agree on.

You must bring your passion and creativity! Remember to have some fun! With the right props, clothing, hair and makeup selections, it’s the perfect opportunity to treat the couple like celebrities for a day!

Stylizing is not limited strictly to engagements - this could include Bridal Portraits, Family Sessions, etc.
